Ammonium chloride is an inorganic compound and a white crystalline salt that is highly soluble in water. Solutions of ammonium chloride are mildly acidic.
• Used as a flux in metalwork, in preparation for tin coating, galvanization.
• Used as an expectorant in cough medicine.
• Used as a food additive E510 (e.g. flavouring in vodka and liquorice).
• Used as a nitrogen source in fertilizers.
